Minecraft is one of the most popular games of all time and it's a game based upon creativity, but sometimes that creativity is best shared with other players and when multiple creative minds come together it can make the experience more fun that's where Minecraft multiplayer comes into the picture. In this post, we have compiled a list of the top 10 Minecraft servers for Minecraft 1.16 in 2020 and beyond for the nether update, these servers are the best for many different reasons perhaps due to their player numbers or awesome modes or mini games that they offer us but there's enough variation in this list for everyone to find a server that they like.

Lemon cloud is a huge hub world with multiple modes similar to other popular servers like mineplex and hypixel, the server has kit pvp, factions, prison, survival and creative mode. The server has the majority of all of the popular modes, the only thing is missing though in my opinion like most servers nowadays is hunger games or battle royales it's sometimes called, the skyblock mode is strong and shows your rank and level, cash and more stats and there's a large amount of players playing this server every day which is around 600 plus, it's a nice server if you just want to play mini games on or mess around for a while.

DeadMc is a survival and blocks versus zombie server, basically, there's a huge influx of zombies than usual that spawn around you in the wilderness and you have to fight them off and survive, it has a really nice little server tutorial that shows you small steps on what you have to do as soon as you jump into the survival mode, you take the boat to the wilderness and once you get teleported you get started from there where you're ambushed by zombies and you need to build to survive, it's a little server with only a couple of players on and there was only three players on when i played but i think it deserves a place on this list because it was fun and a little more different to some of the normal hub servers that I featured on this list, the tutorial has small little quests like cut logs to sell to the market and the small plugins like one where it counts down to the blood moon phase where things get even more dangerous, for anyone who loves fighting off zombies this server could interest you a lot.

The mining dead is not to be confused with a popular crafting dead mod pack for Minecraft, it's basically a daisy or walking dead style Minecraft server centered around zombies, there's pvp which promotes fighting and looting players so there's a heavy focus on teaming up with others if you want to succeed and not be the prey and you have to survive against both zombies and enemy players by trying to survive and loot at the same time, this zombie apocalypse mode is more heavily inspired by the walking dead though as confirmed on their website and the world puts you in a landscape of undead with a starter kit, you explore by scavenging loot which is guns and other weapons and you have to decide who to trust, the website has a pretty cool stats leaderboard which shows the zombie kills, player kill to death ratio and general player kills and stats on.

Wincraft is a nice server and it usually has around 1 000 players online at a time, being the biggest RPG style Minecraft server out there, this server is a fully featured MMORPG server with constant updates and patches to improve the game, with store sales and new quests and features, it behaves exactly like a well-maintained MMO like world of warcraft or runescape and has a great looking website, it's the largest massively multiplayer role-playing game-based Minecraft server that allows you to start as a basic character and explore one of the most unique large scale maps, you gain experience to level up, complete over 100 unique quests with story and lore about the world, join guilds, defeat custom mobs of bosses and just explore, it takes a place on this list just for being original and bringing something entirely new to Minecraft.

Pirate mc is a unique server that's entirely themed around pirates and any fan of sea of thieves or pirates in general should find the server to be a good spot to play on, it has an array of specialist plugins allowing players to create their own boats or ships to sail on the sea by creating a crew of friends or sail to sea solo, you can make allies or enemies and be a pirate and visit ports and towns or just survive in the wilderness, this server has a spiced up survival experience and it has a lot to offer in terms of just being original, it's definitely worth checking out, the server is the most stable using minecraft 1.12.2 but it has plugins which allow support for later versions such as 1.16 editions to connect and play on and it's always up to date with the newest Minecraft update pretty soon after it's released, you can protect your builds and use working cannons to sync enemy ships and it has ranked leaderboards on the server, you can also create castles and gates to your forks and moats with working gates using a plugin, it's a really great experience and the website piratemc.com even has an interactive live map showing the full world, there's a main survival world as well as a creative and a pvp minigame world on the server and each server mode map can be found on the website.

Craftadia is primarily a survival experience that has a heavy focus on unifying players and encourages players to play together, the spawn on this server looks really amazing at the time of writing this post, you spawn in the middle of a medieval style town with really nice structures and a huge galleon type pirate ship which has the portal to transport you to the survival worlds, you have a choice between the yellow world, green world and blue world, each allowing you to transport between them, these are the destinations that you can begin playing at, it's a grief free area that promotes creativity and survival rather than pvp and it has dungeons, claiming of lands for plots, guild and custom shops in the spawn too which let you buy items and ranks and the top donators on the server features, each world has a connected spawn city, so when you go through the portal of the ship, you arrive at another dock next to the same ship, so it appears as the effect of traveling from city to city via sailing, which is really nice and immersive, other than that, it's just a standard Minecraft survival server an experience that you can play on and generally just build on freely.

Skyblock.net it's the best place to go for fans of the Minecraft skyblock mode, the server is allegedly created by the maker of the skyblock mode and it has a record of 3 million unique players to date since it was created back in 2012, making it much older than some of the bigger servers, it usually has a lot of players active daily and it doesn't go down much, which is pretty cool because you want to server this up for most of the day if you're going to be playing a lot on it, on the server you can create your own skyblock island to play on with friends using a unique skyblock plugin that's custom coded with a variety of different island types, i don't have so much time to play minecraft multiplayer always and i don't play just any server, usually the biggest servers don't really appeal to me, however i got pretty stuck in and started to enjoy playing on the skybox server and the skyblock survival, sky wars, the classic skyblock and skyblock economy where you can buy and trade items, I since have been playing on a different skyblock server like I mentioned before and although i took a break on playing on that right now for a while, I do know more about skyblock from it so I know how to play this server more so it was a lot more fun to go back to and play skyblock.net recently.

Earth mc, perhaps one of the best Minecraft servers I've ever personally seen, earth mc aims to create the full world of earth in Minecraft with an in-game world with a full earth-like map based on all of the real countries and towns in the world, you can visit almost any capital of a country in the world in Minecraft and there's even an online map which shows each town and city, the player positions and owners of these lands and updates all of these features in real time, there's really no other server like this project in Minecraft and it's clear why this server is so popular, there are a few other similar servers though which all copy each other and try to emulate the same idea for a project, there's multiple servers which do try and create an earth-like experience in the game, earth mc was one of the best of these so I decided to feature this one, it's a geological based sandbox server which allows building and claiming towns and joining of communities, there's a full online guide for getting started as well as a discord community which is dedicated to the server, it's really spectacular how many players come together to build real-life locations in the game, but there's a huge queue of people actually trying to connect and play, meaning you have to wait but you can play some parkour in the meantime which is pretty fun to try and complete all the puzzles and the jump challenges.

PVP wars is a huge server based entirely off player versus player combat modes, so you're not going to find friendly survival or creative style game types on the server, but if you enjoy pvp versus other players then this may be the server for you, now this top 10 list isn't for pvp servers, I'm going to make another server list entirely based off player versus player servers, but I had to feature this one on here just for a bit of change, it has leaderboards which feature the player's total cash which is based off the riches of the server, the most popular game mode on this server is the skyblock fire mode, however there are sky block competitive, skyblock ice and skyblock emerald gamemodes too, the purpose of these I don't know, perhaps it just affects which blocks you spawn around and have access to and just generally modifies the theme of the skyblock world, but I'm not entirely sure what the changes are, there's also the prison mode and finally my personal favorite minecraft mode of all time which is micro factions where you must create a clan of players and battle to claim land and loot and you can raid, it's a super fun mixture of both survival and pvp which I used to play many years ago.

Hypixel takes number one on this list primarily due to its sheer popularity and demands, there's a lot of youtubers which still play hypixel and occasionally from time to time, I have played it in the past and there's a lot of fun to be had on the server which is why it's keeping the number one position for 1.16, this server is created by the same team that's working on the minecraft like game hightail and it's been around since 2013 meaning it's been running for nearly seven years at this point, this server is basically a vast minigame server with a multitude of different mini game modes to play, its variation of things to choose from is another reason why it took a place on this list as it's a hub type server which offers teleports to the different sub servers which run the different game modes, these are the general popular mode inclusions like skyblock, cops and robbers as well as build battles, tnt games, mega and crazy walls, jewels and a lot of the usual games which you see on these big servers, but since hypixel is so huge, each and every game mode has a lot of players on so none of them are going to seem like a ghost town when you actually play them, so you can test them all out and have fun because usually they've got a lot of people playing all the same time, this is a good server to check out if you generally just bored and want to see what the world of minecraft mini games has to offer, there's a huge bunch of minigame servers and I've played most of them at this point, but back when I first started playing them i'd never really touched Minecraft minigames, so it was interesting to try all the different modes on the server, it's the most popular minecraft server still for a reason and it has a constant player count of thousands of players concurrently each day, meaning there's a lot of people to play with in each mode, I'm not sure if the server will eventually close down when hightail releases, but it's still live and super popular so it's worth playing, I really like though how the server's constantly evolving and how they always change their server's spawn area so it looks occasionally different and there's always updates and new modes which come out every few months.
